Akshaya Chaitanya is an NGO in Mumbai with the objective to eradicate hunger in a
sustainable and scalable way. It is an initiative of HKM Charitable Foundation striving to
provide food security to marginalised sections of the society in the city of Mumbai. We are
currently undertaking three key Feeding Initiatives: Swasthya Ahara – Government hospital
feeding initiative – providing free, unlimited, nutritious lunch meals to patient’s families
keeping them healthy and helping them save for medication. Paushtik Ahara – Meals on
wheels initiative – providing free, unlimited, nutritious lunch to prepare children in slum areas
for a bright future. Bal Shiksha Ahara – Government School Breakfast Initiative – providing
free, millet based nutritious breakfast to eradicate classroom hunger and inspire better
learning environment for the children.
We have been running this programme and initiative for 365 days now and during the
anniversary celebration, we felicitated our donors who have supported our initiatives and
made our vision a living reality. The journey of 365 days of ensuring food security by
donating meals to needy people has been possible only because of thousands of
anonymous donors who made a conscious choice to support our Initiative. Our donors were
also given a tour of our facility and kitchen on this day to show them the strict hygiene
standards and quality control we follow at the kitchen while preparing the food meals.
We also facilitated our staff who has always supported us in our mission and made it
possible to impact so many people. This was our small way of expressing our joy and
gratitude to have such a wonderful team working collectively in our NGO in Mumbai.
A cook-off activity was also organised for donors to engage them as they were made to
decorate cake, and make sandwiches with ready ingredients. The beneficiaries of the
Paushtik Ahara program were the jury and they decided the winning team after a very
entertaining cook-off competition.

- Meals Served: 1,263,236 Cumulative Meals Served
- Number Of Beneficiaries:8,050 Beneficiaries Served Daily
- Swasthya Ahara: Feeding relatives of patients across 6 Government Hospitals
- Bal Shiksha Ahara: Feeding children across 53 Municipal Schools
- Paushtik Ahara: Feeding children across 3 Slums
This is just the beginning. We have a long road ahead and we wish to feed 1,00,000 people
everyday in Mumbai by 2025.
